“Call Me Aduke”: Bobrisky Declares New Identity, Says Transition to Womanhood is Complete

Controversial Nigerian internet personality and social media influencer Bobrisky has once again sparked public conversation after announcing a new name and declaring that her journey to full womanhood is now complete.

In a post shared with her over 5 million Instagram followers, Bobrisky revealed she now wishes to be addressed as Aduke, a popular Yoruba name traditionally given to women. Accompanied by stunning new photos and a video message, she wrote: “I am now a complete woman. My name is Aduke. Respect it.”

The announcement follows months of speculation surrounding Bobrisky’s alleged gender reassignment surgery, which she now confirms has taken place. “I’ve never felt more beautiful, more confident, or more at peace,” she said in a follow-up post. “This is who I truly am.”

Bobrisky, born Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, has been a polarising figure in Nigeria’s entertainment and social media landscape, often making headlines for her defiance of traditional gender roles and outspoken personality. Her latest declaration has reignited national debate around gender identity, self-expression, and societal acceptance.

While many of her fans congratulated her for embracing her true self, others responded with criticism or skepticism — a reaction not unfamiliar to the socialite. In typical fashion, Bobrisky dismissed the negativity, stating, “You don’t have to understand my journey — it’s mine, not yours.”

Legal experts and LGBTQ+ advocates have noted the significance of such public declarations in a country where gender and sexuality remain highly sensitive topics. Some have praised Bobrisky’s boldness for bringing visibility to gender identity issues in Nigeria, even if in a non-traditional and controversial way.

Despite her critics, Bobrisky’s influence on pop culture remains undeniable. From fashion to beauty endorsements and social commentary, she continues to command attention and challenge norms.

It is not yet clear whether the name Aduke will be legally adopted or remain a personal identity, but for Bobrisky, the message is clear: “I’m living my truth — and I love who I’ve become.”
