Former Sex Worker Seeks Redemption, Hopes to Find God-Fearing Partner for New Life

A woman formerly engaged in sex work has made a heartfelt public appeal for a second chance at life, expressing a strong desire to leave her past behind and build a future with a God-fearing man.

The woman, who introduced herself only as Joy to protect her identity, shared her story in a candid social media video that has since gone viral, stirring mixed reactions and sparking conversations around stigma, redemption, and societal reintegration.

“I’m not proud of my past,” Joy said in the video. “But I believe God can use anyone. I want to change. I want to be loved, respected, and live a better life with a man who fears God and can see the woman I’m trying to become.”

Joy said she entered sex work in her late teens due to financial hardship and lack of support. However, after years in the trade, she said she began to feel empty and lost, prompting her to seek spiritual renewal and a new purpose.

Her video has drawn thousands of comments some critical, others sympathetic. Many users applauded her courage, while others debated whether society is truly ready to forgive and reintegrate women with similar pasts.

Social worker and women’s rights advocate, Chinelo Adebanjo, commended Joy’s honesty. “We must stop viewing women like her through a lens of permanent shame. People can change, and they deserve the opportunity to do so.”

Joy said she is currently attending church, receiving counseling, and exploring small business opportunities. She hopes that by telling her story, other women in similar situations will feel inspired to believe in the possibility of transformation.

“This is not about pity,” she added. “This is about grace, growth, and a new beginning.”
