Nollywood actress and media personality Nkechi Blessing Sunday narrowly escaped injury after a portion of the POP (Plaster of Paris) ceiling in her Lekki home suddenly collapsed on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning while the actress was reportedly in another part of the house. Taking to her Instagram stories shortly after, Nkechi shared a video of the damaged ceiling, expressing shock but gratitude that no one was hurt.
“This could have been worse, but I thank God for life,” she wrote, panning her camera across the debris-strewn living room.
Sources close to the actress revealed that the collapse may have been caused by a hidden structural flaw, worsened by recent heavy rains in Lagos. Engineers have since been called in to assess the extent of the damage and ensure the rest of the house is safe for occupancy.
Nkechi, known for her outspoken persona and popular roles in Yoruba-language films, has received an outpouring of concern and support from fans and fellow celebrities since news of the incident broke.
While she remains in good spirits, the actress urged homeowners and landlords to routinely inspect their properties, especially during the rainy season.
