Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has described Burna Boy as the nation’s number one artist at the moment, praising his consistency and global dominance in the music industry.
In a recent media chat, the “African Queen” crooner applauded Burna Boy’s artistry, noting that the Grammy award-winning performer has raised the bar for Afrobeats on the world stage.
“Burna Boy is currently Nigeria’s number one artist. His hard work, creativity, and international appeal are unmatched. He has carried the Nigerian flag with pride and continues to inspire the next generation,” 2Baba said.
The music icon, however, stressed that the recognition does not take away from the achievements of other Nigerian artists, whom he described as “trailblazers in their own rights.”
Burna Boy, whose hits like Last Last and City Boys have topped charts worldwide, recently wrapped up his record-breaking stadium tours, further cementing his place as one of Africa’s biggest exports.
Fans have since taken to social media to debate 2Baba’s remarks, with many agreeing that Burna Boy’s run of global successes places him at the top, while others argue that Wizkid and Davido still share equal footing in Nigeria’s music hierarchy.
